How Startups Have Created Entrepreneurs Out Of Engineers

The startup culture in India has many students going for engineering. By providing attractive packages, startups are hiring some of the best talents from the industry. Just recently, Flipkart recruited two top senior Google Executives for a million dollar salary along with stock options. Studying engineering and starting or working at a startup is now the goal for engineering. Two of the best places to study engineering in India are VIT and BITS Pilani.

Startups have created a completely new culture in India. Most people believe that startups are only restricted to South Indian cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad. However, in actual reality that is not the case. Starups have come up in cities like Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat and even the desert district of Kutch.

The startup culture has created a lot of entrepreneurs in India. The other advantage of a startup culture is a lot of people are now employed by these companies. It has given livelihood to many people both directly and indirectly. Apart from that it has also created some of the hottest jobs in the tech industry.

In most cases, startups in India are started by engineering students from their dorm rooms. Some also create their startup after having worked for a company for a few years. They use that corporate experience to start their companies and manage their employees. Engineering and management graduates now a days opt for startups instead of established organizations.

There’s a lot of difference between large organizations and startups. The working atmosphere is completely different for a startup. In most cases, it’s a product company and they engineer new products. Large IT companies are mostly service companies and work becomes monotonous after some time. Product companies have to innovate all the time to stay in business and on top of their competitors.

Two of the best places to study engineering are VIT and BITS Pilani. Both of them have produced a lot of entrepreneurs over the last few years. If you’re interested in joining BITS Pilani, you can check out the BITSAT 2015 details. You can also check out some of the management exams details. If you’re interested in joining VIT (Vellore Institute of Engineering), you need to give a separate national level entrance exam – VITEEE. If you’re going for building your own startup, I suggest you go for engineering where you can find like minded people to work with.
